Handcrafted in Melbourne, from Premium Tasmanian Blackwood, surfaced on a CNC to be flat and true, and carefully hand sanded and oiled with a foodsafe hardwax oil. This Board comes with a stunning bevelled edge, and finger holds for ease of movement.
This board can also come with a juice groove for capturing any liquids - just leave a comment in the notes and it will be added prior to shipping
Tasmanian Blackwood is Australia's answer to American Walnut, with a dark chocalate heartwood colour, and stunning grain variations
End grain cutting boards offer a knife-friendly surface due to the vertical arrangement of wood fibers, which allows the knife blade to slide between them, reducing friction and preserving sharpness. They are highly durable and resistant to cuts and scratches, with a construction that absorbs the impact of knife cuts, ensuring they last longer than other types of cutting boards. Additionally, the wood fibers in end grain boards have self-healing properties, closing up after the knife is removed to maintain a smooth surface and reduce visible knife marks.
This medium sized board is approx 320mm wide and 40-45mm thick including its non marking, non slip feet. it is 400mm long (each board is cut to suit its individual strengths and for best appearance)
For our chopping boards we reccomend monthly maintenance in order to keep them looking and working their best.
- Applying a chopping board oil or board wax monthly prevents your board from drying out and potentiality cracking after repeated uses and any washes.

I am super, super happy with both of these boards. The craftsmanship is superb and the quality and size of each board is brilliant. I would highly recommend RJS Woodshop.. Rob kept me informed when there was a short delay in production. I will be buying more of these boards because they will make brilliant birthday and Christmas gifts. Blackwood boards
Today I received my medium Tasmanian Blackwood board for my kitchen and the small board for my caravan. Out of the box, they are just beautiful! Good weight, gorgeous smooth and satiny waxed finish with just the right amount of heft. I can't wait to use them. Rob was great, easy communication regarding making the boards and shipping them to me. Highly recommended for a beautiful piece of kitchen art. Form and function, together in one beautiful object. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
