Often called Australia's answer to walnut, blackwood has striking grain movement, so no two boards look alike.

Every board is laid out by hand to show its timber at its best, so finished sizes vary slightly from one to the next.

Care
Hand-wash in warm, soapy water and towel-dry — never leave it soaking, sitting in water, or in the dishwasher. Once a month, or whenever the surface looks dry, give it a re-oil: wipe on a thin coat of food-safe board oil or a hardwax/beeswax finish, leave it 15–20 minutes, then buff off whatever hasn't soaked in.
Being an end-grain board, the surface is self-healing and especially kind to your knives — the timber fibres stand upright, so blades slip between them instead of being blunted across the grain.
Our shop-made chopping board wax — food-grade mineral oil and local beeswax — is made for exactly this.
Materials
Handcrafted from premium, sustainably sourced Tasmanian blackwood — rich chocolate-brown heartwood with golden highlights and a soft shimmer. Surfaced flat and true, hand-sanded, then finished with a food-safe hardwax oil — no varnishes, no plastic coatings.
It's built end-grain — the timber's end fibres facing up — for a tougher, more knife-friendly surface.
Timber is a natural material, so grain, colour and figure shift from piece to piece. No two are ever quite the same.

Each piece is handmade to order and usually despatched within 3–7 business days, then sent Australia-wide with tracking. Everything is wrapped carefully for the trip.
